Summary	0012535: Would appreciate ability to change names of Profile fields
Description	We are using Mantis to track bugs in a variety of products which are are not in themselves software. For example technical specifications and a web-based collaboration product. In both these cases, the current Profile fields (Platform/OS/OS Version) are inappropriate, and it would be much better if they could be replaced by custom labels such as Web Site/Browser/Browser Version or Specification/Apecification Version/etc. Obviously some of this can be done by suppressing the Profile fieldsdefining Custom Fields, but that tends to put these important fields down at the bottom of the form, rather than in the place of the Profile fieldswhere they really belong.

mkirk 2010-11-17 08:57 reporter ~0027402	I think it is the hard-coded profile system that I would like to see changed. The profile scheme seems very well suited to providing the end-user with a useful set of canned responses. It would be sufficient to make the names of the fields configurable. As things are, Mantis imposes a scenario on the user, i.e. that it is being used to track bugs in a product whose environment is defined by the Platform/OS/OS Version triplet. Adding this configurability would widen its applicability to a wider class of problem spaces. I think that 3 fields is probably fine for most scenarios. It might be desirable to be able to suppress the third (and even second) field if less than 3 are applicable. I doubt it would be worth adding the ability to add more fields beyond the current 3, although it might be a nice generalization. And while we are on the topic of possible enhhancements, here are a couple more: It would be nice if a user could save their own private profiles, thus giving them an ability to save their own usual responses. Currently all three fields of the profile are requirted when adding a global profile entry. It might be nice if one or more could be left for the user to fill in. In our case, I could envisage having the Website and Browser fields pre-filled, with the Browser Version left for the user to complete.
