Yet still, Mantis should have a built-in "Fixed in build" field.
And it really lacks configurable options to make built-in fields mandatory (just like you can with custom fields).

@Mantis team: How are the chances to get these two features in?

Does anybody know if this topic is already targeted for some future Mantis version?
I would vote for a rather simple but effective solution:

1. Introduce a new "Fixed in build" field (like already suggested)
2. Introduce 4 new configuration options to make the "Product version", "Build", "Fixed in ...

I would definitely vote for the simpler solution, maybe combined with a new user status "beta tester" above the normal "reporter".

What I dislike about the first solution you suggested is that it would require beta versions to be created as extra versions in Mantis (with the "internal" flag set). I ...

by default, Mantis does not allow bug reporters to specify an affected version that is not yet released (only released versions appear in the list). Is there really no config option to change this?
