Yes do that. It's hard to guess what you should do without detailed knowledge about your system.
What's important is that the files are readable by the user running the webserver.

Hello,
the features list says that reporting bugs via email is available as a patch for older versions of mantis. Does anyone know where i can find the patch? (we're using 1.1.8 atm)
