Re: Adding additional columns in View Issues
I used the admin tool to add a new list of columns (and it worked). I have 2 comments: 1. project_id is not very useful, it adds the db id for the project... the wiki says it is the project name so this needs correcting. Ideally, it would actually show the project name not the id. 2. once you create...

what does the project status control?
on the page http://www.mantisbt.org/manual/manual.page.descriptions.system.management.pages.manage.projects.page.php It seems that the public/private flag determines if the project shows up in the pulldown list, but what does the project "status" (development/release/stable/obsolete) contr...

error seeing custom strings
following the wiki instructions for adding a custom validation function to validate a minimum size for description and requiring a version number, I added the following to the file: custom_functions_inc.php <?php define( 'ERROR_BUG_VALIDATE_FAILURE_TOO_SHORT', 9001 ); define( 'DESCRIPTION_TOO_SHORT'...

Re: Making Fields Required
Is there an easier way to make the product version and product build fields required?
Or is this still the best way to do it?

Re: Version vs. Build
I think that is right. I'm not 100% sure if the roadmap report needs to consider the release build. If the issue is not yet closed, it would have no build (obviously). once it was closed though, perhaps grouping by build might be good... I would have to see it in action to tell if it made the report...

internally released versions
I understand that versions can be either "released" or not, and that only defects with non-released target versions show up in the roadmap. One limitation with this though is that we frequently have products which are "internally" released to a small set of users, and until they ...

Re: Version vs. Build
Personally, I think that the build number should be used when specifying a version a bug is found in. We use a 4 digit version number (major.minor.patch.build) which I think is a pretty standard way of doing things. We then use the first 3 digits in the mantis version number (major.minor.patch) and ...

how make a parent category read only not sub projects
is there any way to make a parent category read only but leave the sub projects active? Specifically, I have parent projects for each of our major applications. Each project then has 3 sub-projects: hardware, software and device firmware. I want bugs to be entered into the sub projects, not the top ...

deleting multiple categories or versions
one enhancement that would be very nice would be the ability to delete multiple categories or versions at the same time. If you create a sub project for instance, and want to move all the versions or category (move, not copy) it is a royal pain to delete all the old ones from the parent project. thi...

number in subject causes unintentional link
one of my users added a defect to our system today with a subject like: "some problem title #2 " the part (#2) in the subject then turned into a link (in reports etc) to defect #000002 which was not intended at all. I think that automatic linking needs to be optional. Preferrably, the user...

I agree there is a bit of information overload... sometimes it is hard to tell where to look for an answer... I am not sure whether one medium is any faster than another for getting responses. Generally, I think there are more answers in the forums than the wiki, but I also think there is a lot of c...
