Filter by date

Hello everybody!
I've posted this question on StackOverflow a few weeks ago but got no responses from anyone. Since this is the official Mantis forum, perhaps it will get one here?
In my Mantis, I have configured a custom field called "Starting date", which is obviously a date field that has the default value {TODAY}.
Now I want to filter for "All tasks that have a starting date less or equal than {TODAY}", but Mantis only lets me select hardcoded date values.
So I would have to enter the current date every time I want to use such a filtering. Is there a way around that?
(In the StackOverflow posting, there are 2 Screenshots as well)
