Plugin repository

Post by cas »

Is there a central repository available for plugins (as of version 1.2.*)?
If so, where to find it, if not can one be created?
We should have at least 2 sections, standard mantis plugins and third party ones.

I agree about the need for this. I believe we will streamline this after 1.2 is released. For now, these are accessible through the git repositories:

http://git.mantisbt.org
http://git.mantisforge.org

I know the jreese has a plugin that can help with publishing plugins, allowing comments, ratings, downloads, etc. So, we may use that and making the repository part of the official bug tracker.

I think that at the moment http://git.mantisforge.org is the right one

Must say that i find that place pretty unfriendly.
Would prefer a simple instance of mantis whereby each plugin can become it's own project.
Have one section where someone can request a plugin-project, make that person the manager and that's all.

I agree with this
But there is also the need for a source code repository, where http://git.mantisforge.org seems to be a good option for this.
I don't like versions of source code as attachments of issues.

Roland,
subscribed to this mailing list now and fully support your view.
I have been making quite a number of plugins and actually was planning to bring support to my home site in order to have more control.
I do fully support your proposal to have aproject per plugin on the mantis site so it at least all comes together.
Would also be good to include a project on the plugin system itself where questions can be raised, suggestions can be made on the functional part.
I raised one question on possible reaching the limits of that system, which i highly appreciate, but till now very little response.
By creating my plugins I am nearly in a position that I can upgrade the system without major rework (only have userteams , multile uploads and a tabbed interface left).
It just shows the strength of this system.
I will keep this on my radarscreen and hope to hear soon some good news.

Cas, did you read this one?
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/mess ... .gmail.com
Seems that a plugin developer has to take the next step forward.
What about you?
I think writing something like the following message should be enough to get started:
My username at http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs is cas.
Please create a new project "myPluginName" and assign manager rights for this project to me.
Please use Search before posting and read the Manual

Did you use this one?
mantisbt-dev@lists.sourceforge.net
If yes, maybe there is a spamming / moderation system
1. try again
2. wait one day
3. come back to this thread if there is still a problem and describe in detail the error message

Send the message again, this time no rejection but also no reply.
Looks like this is still not fully working as expected (or hoped).

Roland,
it is a pitty, the initiative is good.
But no reply till now from that list or anything else.
Nor do i see any other plugin coming up under projects on the mantis bugtracker.
The guys can contact me if they still have an interest, my email is known on the bugtracker/forum.
