Hi,
is it possible to configure mantis, so the default form (not the advanced one) has an Assignee field? It is uability issue, nobody wants to click New bug, then switch to advanced mode everytime.

Yes, you just have a patch to apply (http://bugtracker.morinie.fr/mantis/view.php?id=592).
