I agree it is so much easier when there is an app rather then the web browser.

Hello,
is there a public API or a webservice i could use to connect my iPhoe/iPad App to Mantis?
I'm developing a complete Suite for freelancers o handle there stuff like customers, projects, timetracking, invoices and more.
And it would be great to import the tickets from mantis, so it is easy to track your time for each ticket and after that write an invoice
Perhaps somebody can give me a hint on an API or a webservice.
Thanks,
Urkman

There is a SOAP API available

Check the WSDL

Did not want to bore everyone with questions that might already have been answered before / elsewhere.... but anyways :
- What is the status of the iphone app project ?
- is there any such "project" ?
- Can we see it / test it / contribute ?
A.

There are quite a few different javascript frameworks out there that "emulate" the look and feel of native Iphone apps, one that springs to mind is JTouch which is a branch of JQuery. That way you can use the framework and style sheets to create something that can be used also on Android phones etc etc.
Google for it and there are some examples in the files.

I'm currently working on an app for Mantis. I'm running into a lot of snags though.

Honnestly, I don't see the benefit of such an app. OK, most of the time, when you're working on a project, you're on a machine. It means that you already have access to your Mantis server via the browser of your machine. So why complicating so much the life with accessing the Mantis server with your iPhone ?
Besides, when you're active on an issue, it is also most of the time linked to the source code. And I doubt you have all the source code of your project on your iPhone. You'll need to browse it on your computer, make some modifications, test, run, debug, etc... So again, since you're on your machine already, no need to access Mantis with your iPhone, it'll be such a waste of time.
Nope, really, I don't see the useness of such an app.

I think having an iphone or mobile device compatible app for mantis would mainly benefit to
1. Plan your work looking at bugs posted or status changed even before reaching your desk
2. Updating the bugs for PM/Tech lead is more easy to do task even without needing the machine beside you
3. High level view of what is happening can be taken even without engaging the team if your team is following mantis properly
One of my client also uses Mantis as a project management tool, where all the tasks are in a diff category, he is sure of being benefited by a mobile-pda device based app for mantis as his in and out into the system becomes more easy.
