Can't update resolution for the group of issues

Dear forum,
we are using mantis-1.0.0a2. I encounter the following problem:
on "View issues" page I select several issues to be updated. They're all resolved with resolution=suspended status. I want them to be fixed from now, and fixed in version xxx.
But I can't do that. After "Update Status" choice I have no chance to alter resolution or any fields other than status. I can try to use "Resolve", where I set appropriate values of Resolution and Fixed in version, but then it ends up with an error.
Why? Is it because I'm resolving bugs which are already resolved? May it help to upgrade to newer mantis release? Please show me the way to do what I need. I have administrator privileges on the repository.
