hi all,

can any one tell me whats the difference between the "build" and "version" is it not enough if v just fill the version column, pls give me the importance of build if possible. mantis 1.0.1

As with a lot of things, it all depends :)

Many people don't use 'build'. In some of our projects, however, we have a product that has a new 'version' each half year that is a public release. However, each night we rebuild the application with that day's new code to be tested by QA the following day (if that makes sense).

In that case, we have a different build number each day.

Some people use 'build' as a form of 'version' and 'version' as a form of 'SKU', too... it's very different for everyone, even every project.
