Strings translations

Hello,
Before i update Mantis to a higher version, i've translated some strings in /lang/french.txt and ducth.txt.
Because the translation has been done inside these files, i've lossed it after the upghrade.
It is says in the Mantis admin guide that we can override the strings in config/custom_strings_inc.php. Is this also valid for the strings in /lang/*?
For exemple, "anomalie" becomes "ticket".
