Mantis Bug Tracker - Forums

I've set up Mantis as a bug tracking system on a group of projects that I'm the Product Manager for. One thing that puzzles me is that there doesn't seem to be an obvious way for bug reporters to report the version of the software or firmware that they were using. Obviously it might be necessary to report the versions of several parts of their setup, and it might be necessary to report other configuration issues (which operating system they were using, how much memory they had etc.). It seems to me crucial to record the versions that exhibited the bug or issue that's being reported, and it would help if reporters saw a box in front of them asking this question.

Is there some way I can set this up?

How do other Mantis users deal with this issue?

Hi Rowan:

I'm assuming that you're using a relatively recent version of Mantis. It does support versions natively, you just have to set them up. In your project management page you should see a section for versions: once you add at least one version, then the users should be able to see and select them when reporting an issue.

Thanks for your help. I hadn't spotted the facility to add versions - it's exactly what I was looking for.
