I am presently running 2.26 with the customizable email plugin, which was more of a manual type install than usual.

Will I need to manually reinstall the html email stuff or would that happen to be included in the 2.27 branch?

If yu are talkig about my development, I can say that it is part of core Mantis 2.27.
I will check my documentation on Github

Did anything change with the default config file for mantisbt in 2.27.0 (compared to teh 2.26 branch)?

If there were changes, I'm not seeing it - I just copied over my 2.26.1 config into 2.27.0 and it works perfectly.

I made a stupid typo above. I meant to say it is NOT part of 2.27 core.
So the adjustments as described are stll valid.
That is why i prepared email_api.php for Mantis 2.27.
