"Modern UI" in mantishub

Hi, I know mantishub is not related to Mantis, so I ask your pardon in advance for this question. They have released a "Modern UI" and I came here to see if that was part of a regular Mantis release, but am not seeing it in the announcements/blog/forum (I only searched cursorily).

Could anyone who is familiar with the "Modern" look on mantishub let me know if that type of thing can be done purely through Mantis's own customization abilities? Or does that mean they have split from the main branch of code.

I don't have anything against the Modern UI per-se, it's just that we are long term users, we like the "Classic" UI, and we don't see any benefits of switching. And I'm a little worried, if it is being done by an actual code branch versus configuration changes, that eventually the "Classic" will be taken away because it has become too much trouble to maintain. Then we'll be forced to switch.

Thanks for any info. I may check with their support as well but wanted to ask here first.

Is this about what was announced in 2015, or is there something newer than that ? https://blog.mantishub.com/2015/01/26/a ... modern-ui/

No, that "modern UI" is what we are used to, and is called the "Classic UI" in MantisHub. Their new "modern UI" is very different and looks much more like say, Jira tools. It's not just a new skin. As it may be proprietary, I didn't want to post a screenshot.

Anyway, based on your answer, I think it is safe to say that is something new they are working on independently. I hope they stay compatible for your branch for things like bug fixes, at least.

(Sorry for my late reply, I am apparently not getting notifications. Thank you for answering).

Good question. MantisHub will always be compatible and stay up-to-date with MantisBT.

This 'Modern UI' looks fantastic! Are there any plans to release it for classic Mantis users?

To avoid the confusion, here is the history:

- In 2015, MantisHub released Modern UI v1, which was contributed back to MantisBT later and is now the standard MantisBT UI. This was essentially a retheming of the MantisBT UI.

- In 2025, MantisHub released Modern UI v2, which is exclusive to MantisHub. This is an entirely new UI that works on top of MantisBT. It utilizes TypeScript, Tailwind, and Vue.js as its tech stack. It is optimized for the ability to release new features weekly as part of MantisHub SaaS offering while building on top of a stable MantisBT PHP backend. This enables easy migration between MantisBT and MantisHub in any direction. Modern UI v2 natively integrates MantisHub plugins such as Helpdesk and Wiki.

You can see videos of the Modern UI v2 at: https://mantishub.com/tutorials

Hi there, good question! The “Modern UI” on MantisHub isn’t part of the standard open-source MantisBT releases. MantisHub often develops and deploys its own front-end improvements and feature enhancements on top of the core platform, so this UI is likely exclusive to their hosted version rather than a simple theme or configuration option. You can’t fully replicate it using just the built-in customization tools in self-hosted Mantis. The “Classic” MantisBT interface remains supported and maintained in the main branch, so there’s **no immediate risk** of it being removed.
