Status/Resolution Help ???

Hello again,

I am new to all of this bugtracking/workflow stuff.

I know this is long but I am POSITIVE most of you have been in my shoes sometime before. The Boss wants you to do this and do it YESTERDAY! Unfortunately the Boss and his other underlings have not a clue how this stuff works either, and that means I have no one to ask questions of. I am going to end up being the fall guy. UGH....

Anyhow, if someone can please help me, Id love to get this up and running right and tell someone to shove it where the sun don't shine !! I have AOL, and YAHOO instant messengers running if that would make things easier. Just let me know and Ill give you my screen name.

I am trying to get an issue tracker/cm and workflow process together for work. I have looked at other applications but I really like MANTIS. It seems to be capable of doing everything we need. I just do not have all the know how.

I have the list of status's my group gave me and in the list it looks like they are part of Mantis's Status OR Resolution items.

What is the difference between the two? How can I differentiate between a status and resolution?

For example, on my list I have the following so called status's;
• Assigned
• Cancel
• Closed
• Complete
• Created
• Open
• ReOpen
• Submitted
• ToBeVerified
• Verified.

Looking in the Mantis config files, some of these are in Status and some are in Resolution areas. I am not sure how to tell what goes where!

I also have a list of "users" that I can not grasp as to where they go. The list of users are:
• Originator
• Configuration Manager
• Engineering Manager
• Engineering Review Board (ERB)
• Configuration Control Board (CCB)
• Engineer (assigned)
• Test Manager
• Test Engineer
• Quality Assurance
• Operational Board.

Each user has their own job within the Workflow Diagram I was given. They are able to set status's (and resolution I guess), and assign certain bugs/issues to certain people on the list above. I am not sure where these people go (I assume under "Access Levels") and how to limit what status (and now resolution) they can give to each issue.

Is there anyway through the GUI to modify the list of predefined values for the Resolution field when resolving an issue?
