Error with fresh installation on ISP

Hi, I'm a Mantis newbie and I'm having problems configuring it over my ISP.

I've downloaded Mantis 1.0.8, uncompressed the files on my local computer and transfered them under my web domain via FTP (my webhosting plan support PHP 5.1.2 and MySQL 4.1.2).

Then I've opened my web browser and introduced the URL "www.mywebdomain/mantis/admin/install.php" as found under the Mantis instructions... but the page doesn't show anything... (my website is running other PHP scripts with no problems).

I don't know what could I do to install it. Please, some advice?

Thanks in advance,

Javier

I had a similar symptom, although my solution was related to my webhost still supporting PHP 4, so I doubt it is the same problem.

But you may be able to get some clues by pointing your browser to admin/check.php, and posting the results here.

Yep, I can confirm the same problem. Nothing is displayed at /admin/install.php.
Visiting admin/check.php shows the following error.

SYSTEM WARNING: main() [function.main]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/adodb/adodb.inc.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/httpd/vhosts/domainpath.com/httpdocs:/tmp)

SYSTEM WARNING: main(adodb/adodb.inc.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: Operation not permitted

Try downloading the Mantis package that has the name ending with "rc3" or something like that.
It's the development branch and it doesn't have a certain error like the one you're describing which is in the newest release.
