I've started to track email discussions related to defects by attaching notes (one per email) to defects. I know there are some customizations out there to support email gateways, and I haven't taken the time to look at them. For now volume is sufficiently low that this is still manageable.

One thing that I find annoying is that often in those email exchanges users will paste screen grabs, attach files, etc. These naturally end up as file attachments in Mantis, but they completely fall outside the flow of the notes.

Are there mods out there to allow attachments to notes rather than the defect?

I developed a plugin to add custom fields to note. I just add your request for the next release.

A "custom field" to a note, does this include file attachments? And will it show the attached images inline?

Bringing back an old thread (mine, too!) is bad form I suppose...

Just wanted to know if it was possible now? We're running the 1.2.x series, and I find myself doing this more and more (creating notes which are just screaming for embedded images).

In fact, I just want that the mail notifications look like it was real email, I would like to copy/paste image in the text field.

Do you think it's possible?
