Use Case for MANTIS

Does anyone use mantis for tracking defects other than with software? If so what was your experience and how much customization was done to accomplish it (if any).
Currently using Mantis 1.1.6

In Mantis 1.2.0rc2 (yet to be released), it is now possible to hide/show each field in the report / view / print / update pages. This will make it more friendly to managing non-software related issues. There are also enable / disable of features like projection, eta, product build, etc. These removes the fields from the whole system (e.g. filters, etc).
