Set/increase Issue ID number

I would like to set, or increase the Issue ID number in Mantis.
I had a previous database, but over time issues were solved and developers and/or managers did not close out the bug reports. It became apparent that it would be best to recreate a new Mantis database to start over on a clean slate.
I would like the new database to start the Mantis Bug IDs where the previous database had left off, so as not to confuse developers as they review their emails.
Is there a way to do this? I wasn't sure if simply placing null fields with the IDs would work for this or not.
