Our company use mantis for all projects. When I connect with mylyn mantis connector it always reask me for my user and password. Only if I use an user with permissions to all projects, i'm able to rescan the repository and create an query for my tasks. When I already created an query I can use it with less permissions. I think the webservices lists all projects and when it try to iterate over each of it, my user has to less permissions.
