This was removed recently to fix a problem where the search function caused an error, but it was not added back.

Any change it is coming back ( perhaps configurable? ) Our data entry was based on the ability to search in notes.

This is actually a huge problem for us too. It will keep us from upgrading to 0.19.x from 0.18.x.
