Partial Commit: This was a backend change, to enable valid options for fields/columns at all times. This commit is effectively 2 of 3.

Part 1 - Previously we dhx replaced some global constants, and I did some bug fixes to existing API several months ago

Part 3 - to follow - is to ensure that post these change, we've got in-mantis option to edit all fields.
