We are currently using a custom field called "customer" which is a text field.
The sense of that field would be to fill in here during creation of a new issue the name of the customer were a bug of a project was detected.

With that custom field we have the problem that over time different/same reporter creates new issues but use different values for that field for the same customer.

The reason is quite easy because they didn't know/remember what value they use before or was already used by other reportes for that customer.

We thought that we could solve that problem with using a dynamic list based on the values for that custom field. But this doesn't realy fit because it is only a selection list. Creating a new customer wouldn't be possible anymore.

So what we need here is a combination of a dynamic list which allows to create new values.

Do you think, that it would be possible to implement a new field type for that specific purpose?

Do you have any idea how to solve that problem in an other way?
