Custom Email Notifications

Post by ste_dee »

Hi,

We have 2 systems administrators who logs calls from all of users, so the users themselves dont actually log the calls and so they arent currently recorded against the call. I am setting up a custom field to capture the information of who originated the call. Problem is the email notifications are against who is logged into mantis when they log the call, who is assigned the work, and any one who adds themselves to the Monitor list.

Even though our "originator" does not do any of the above things, we need them to recieve email notifications as if they had reported the call. Can anyone suggest how I could achieve this? Is it possible to make the reporter field available for data entry, rather than it just taking this from the logged in user? Is it possible/difficult to modify the email notification code to read in a list of email addresses from a custom field? Then I could get our admin guys to enter a string of email addresses in a custom field.

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Steve

The best approach as of Mantis 1.1.1 is for your administrator to report the issues (which will be reported against their names), then click Update and change the reporter to the user. In future versions, we can add support for allowing the administrators to directly report the issues against the callers. If you require this feature, submit a feature request in the bug tracker. Or if you need it soon, then you can sponsor it so it becomes part of Mantis 1.2.

Once the caller becomes the reporter, all the email notifications are generated as expected.
