Multiple Mantis frontends possible?

since I found nothing about a setup like this in the docs I would like to ask if someone has some further information ...

Is it possible to use 2 Mantis applications running on different servers using only one underlying database?

I would like to install a second server running Mantis on an Windows system which uses the same Mysql-Database than my Linux installation does.

Usecase: have one Mantis server in your DMZ and one in your internal network ... different features on application level but same database for both systems

Mantis version 1.0.* or 1.2.*
OS Windows and Linux
DB: Mysql running on the Linux system

What kind of features are you planning to enable internally but not in the DMZ?
Can't you just disable these features for external users and enable them for internal ones? The assumption here is that internal users have higher access level than external ones.
