custon fields not working when filtering none 1.1.8

I've seen related posts, but most mentioned it's a bug that has been fixed in future version. I upgraded just the same, to 1.1.8.

the custom field I have seems to work on one project if I have none selected as a filter, but on another it does not, even though there are bugs with nothing marked in each project.
