Mantis without email?

Post by Tinjaw »

I am running Uniform Server off a CD-RW. I installed mantis on it since it has all of the stated requirements (PHP, Apache, MySQL), except it is run on standalone computers with no network connections, hence no email. I can't even create usable accounts because mantis can't send the necessary email message to login and activate the account and set the password.

So my question is whether full email support (outbound and inbound) should be added to the list of requirements for mantis or whether it is possible to run mantis "stand alone" without any reliance on email?

Update config_inc.php configuration file and include the following parameters:

$g_enable_email_notification = OFF;
$g_send_reset_password = OFF;
$g_validate_email = OFF;
$g_check_mx_record = OFF;

There will disable the system generation and emailing of password to the user. It will enable the administrator to assign password during user creation.

Mantis with no emails

This information should really be added to the installation directions.

The server I'm putting Mantis on doesn't allow emails being sent, and it would have been nice to see this info easily instead of spending a half hour tryinig to track it down via web searching!
