Password on creation

Hello !

I search for 2 hours and can't find anything about password encryption when I create a naw account : what excaltly are the functions used to encrypt the password and what is the default password for everybody ? (mail non fonctionnal because easyPHP).

2nd question : is it normal that when I copy/paste the password in the databse (in md5) and I try to connect, it works ?
