send reminder timer

Has anyone here work on creating a mod that will allow you to use a custom feild to supply a date / time that will be in returned used to send a reminder of the ticket if the ticket has not been updated or closed in x a mount of time. I know there is a send reminder function but I need something a little bit more automated. I been searching around for a bit now and have not come up with much.
