Hi - I am a user of Mantis BT and I notice that when I add a note to an issue, I can reference another issue using the "#" notation. So I can write something along the lines of "We encountered a similar problem when dealing with issue #1234". I also know that I can reference a specific note within an issue using the "~" notation. So I can write something along the lines of "We encountered a similar problem when dealing with issue #1234 as explained in note ~3456".
However, I have also noticed that there is another notation which appears as " ... as detailed in 1234:3456 ... ". Can anyone please explain to me the notation that I need to use to generate this.
Very many thanks,
Simon

I told you the answer at http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=9261#c28130
Use ~<NumberOfTheNote> for a note reference
Use ~<NumberOfTheNote> for a note reference

Hi atrol,
Very many thanks for your reply. I got your answer at http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=9261#c28130 , and many thanks for that. I should also say apologies for initially posting in the wrong place.
My follow on question, though, is how do I make reference to a note in the same manner as KarlReichert as at http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=9261#c27672 - this notation shows both the issue id AND the note id as part of the hyperlink. When I simply use the "~" notation all that shows is the note reference.
Many thanks,
Simon

Re: How to reference a specific note
Which version of MantisBT do you use? Maybe 1.1.x? The new hyperlink has been introduced with version 1.2simon.may wrote:this notation shows both the issue id AND the note id as part of the hyperlink. When I simply use the "~" notation all that shows is the note reference.
Re: How to reference a specific note
Hi,
We are working with two different instances of Mantis at our site. One version is 1.1.4 and the other is 1.2.3 . I have now tried the "~" notation on both systems and I now understand what you are telling me. The same notation works differently on both instances.
Very many thanks for your time !
