Error message using Enum Custom Fields

I am using Mantis 1.2.3
I define an enum custom field. This field is not required and not visible also, when the user reports an issue. When the user confirm the issue, Mantis show a message error, saying that the field is empty, like the field was required.

Is it a Mantis error? Or is my mistake?

You should update to latest stable version which is 1.2.6 at the moment.
I am quite sure your issue has been fixed since version 1.2.5 http://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=11684
