Tabs don't work in a Mantis news post

I have an EXCEL table of issues that I'd like to post as a news item.

I've tried saving the EXCEL table in several different text formats, without success. If I open the text file in Notepad, the tabs work, lining up the columns correctly. When I copy/paste from Notepad into the Mantis news editor, all tabs and extra spaces are replaced with a single space.

Is there a $g_ variable that needs to be configured to fix this, or should I try using Word or rtf, or some Web page format?
