Default value for Category Field

I have a project with a single category: Issue. When I select the "Report Issue" option, the category field has a drop down with two options: (Select) and Issue. It seems extraneous to have to select the only value in the list. Is there a way to default the field to NOT select (Select) and instead default to Issue?

None of the other options in google searched worked.

I'm using version 1.2.5.
