Length of "OS Version" is too short

Hello. I'm writing some global profiles and can't enter "OS Version" like "10.6 Snow Leopard" or "10.8 Mountain Lion" (about Apple OS X). So, is it possible to increase the length of this field ? Does it exists an exposed variable for configuration or should I modify it in code and underlying database ? Could you drive me to the easiest way, please ?

The database definition allows up to 32 characters for the "OS Version", but the input is limited to 16 characters at the moment.
