Howto prevent reporting duplicates

Hello,

is there a way to automatically prevent users from reporting duplicates? Or at least, give users some hints, if they are reporting an issue which would be similar to an existing issue?

For example, bugzilla has a feature where the users are shown similar existing bugs and they could choose if the new reported issue would fit to one if the exitsing issues, or if they would open a new issue instead.

My mantis is v1.2.15.

Can you report a bug in the issue tracker to add this feature?

This actually makes a lot of sense and is a fairly common thing to do.

I'd like to say it would be good to create a plugin to do this, but given you'd really want to bounce users around in a sensible way, this might be something that would be better implemented as a core feature.
