About the categories

Hi,

Is there a way to have the default category for a new bug set to blank, and to have the category field a required one?

Sure, I can instead create new custom fields, but then I would like to hide the "category" field, because then it is useless to me.

btw is there a way to customize mantis to tell it some fields are required? For example I would like the project version to be a required field, and I would like this field to have a default value.

I agree that the category field need to be initially empty, this is to avoid the first category in the list from receiving a lot of false hits! I also think it makes sense to make it a required field. I was actually think about this problem for a long time, but didn't get to it.

Please submit a feature request and I will implement it (soon!).
