Mantis BT Upgrade from 1.2.10 to latest version

Hi, I find myself in the unfortunate position of have a very old Mantis version of 1.2.10, and would like to bring this uip tot the latest version. i already export out the database nightly to backups, ao would like to understand the upgrade path from 1.2.10 to 2.7.0. I understand there's going to be many, many incremental steps / upgrades which are probably going to be required. The old 1.2.10 version is on a desktop machine, but new verison will be a fresh VM on modern Linux OS.
Could someone point me in the right sirection please?

Well best way forward is a 3-step approach:
first update mantis to last 1.2.x version on the desktop (that should work)
Next upgrade to an early 2.x version
Last move on to version 2.27
You really need to review minimal requirements for the next step, you most likely will face php/mysql upgrades
