Sub-Projects = A HUGE disappointment :-(

Post by cornersoyo »

I was extremely excited about Sub-Projects!!! Such an important and useful feature!!

However there appears to be a mysterious and glaring problem:

Issues assigned to Sub-Projects DO NOT APPEAR IN THE ROADMAP???

The "versions" are there (inherited), but unless I "move" the issues to the Parent Project, they simply do not show.

Here I thought I could see a Roadmap for each Sub-Project, and then a combined Roadmap for the Parent Project.

Is this by design?? Is there a fix?? If someone can please confirm this for me!!! I would appreciate it...

Very bummed...

Since August 2009... apparently a major hurdle, wow.

And even with the Roadmap, I'm not sure that addresses the dependency issue...

If my project has 4 sub-projects, all four of those need to be completed before the main project can be completed.

I should be able to see not only the status for each sub-project individually in roadmap, but also a combined status of all of the subprojects when I am looking at the main project and its issues. It's not a hard calculation, and I know - because we (grudgingly) do it manually. It's the only way we can use the system for our needs.

This would be such a powerful feature IMO.

But the lack of sub-projects integrating in the manner described above still has us considering a change. :-(

Fortunately (or unfortunately), Mantis is excellent for us in every other way... so we are still hanging onto hope!!!

And whatever the case, we are still very appreciative to the developers for making this application available in the first place. That point seemed to get lost in my initial rant, sorry...
