Add or rename statuses

Is there any way through the Mantis interface to edit the statuses in any way? The default statuses are:

New
Feedback
Acknowledged
Confirmed
Assigned
Resolved
Closed

Can we simply add a new status or perhaps rename one of the statuses? I was also told by someone in our office that Mantis may also have the capability of adding a "Sub-Status" where we could add a status that would internally still be pointing to one of the above seven statuses. Are any of these a possibility?

There is no way by using the user interface.
