Update Issue Status

I have been wondering what this does? I have tried to change the status of an issue with this preference unselected, yet I was still able to update the status.

Can somebody tell me what it's for? how it works? Many thanks!!!

mmmm...do i really need to modify somethin to the value of $g_update_bug_status_threshold variable in the config_inc.php file?...nyway, just did some research here... bout the difference between update an issue and update issue status.
Update an issue-> allow the user to update the bug content: summary, description and version (by default, it should be capable for updater, developer, manager and admin)
update issue status-> allow the user to change/update the status of the bug report. (so from here, we can set the Access Level to Change to this Status from the administrator page at the manage>manage configuration> workflow transition)-by default, it should be capable for developer, manager and admin
