features matrix

Post by dingfelder »

One thing that would be very helpful would be a "features matrix"

What I mean is, a table on the main page, that lists 2 coulums: the 1.0 series vs the 1.1 series (and perhaps the 2.0 planned series?)
Then a list of rows for all the features of the system, so you can see which versions have which features.

Without something like that, users are forced to wade through the wiki, the forums and Vic's blog to find various (partial/incomplete?) lists of features, which they have to try and integrate themselves.

Thoughts?

Maybe we can update the feature list with when features were first introduced. However, there will always be a question relating to exact releases that added the support for a feature or a scenario within a feature. Also the overall feature list need to be high level. Hence, I believe we can add this info to the feature list but make sure we don't make it more detailed that it needs to be. The main aim of the feature list is to provide a new user with an overview of Mantis features.

Existing users can make use of Changelog and Roadmap to know more about what was introduced when and what is planned for future releases.
