Can't login as newly-created users

Good Evening everyone,
I'm using the most current development release from 12/2007 I believe.
I can login fine as administrator/root
I've been trying to create other users - which appears to go well - but then - when I logout of the
administrator account - I am unable to login as the user that I just created.
It says "either your username or password is incorrect - or either your account is blocked/disabled.

Hi,

I'm experiencing this exact problem as well.

My setup is as follows :-

Apache 2.2
PHP 5.2.5
Mantis 1.1.0

I'm running a test installtion on a fully patched Windows XP machine.

I'm able to log on using the Administrator account.
I'm able to create new users
I've tried resetting the password field of the "mantis_user_table" to a known value.

I get the same error reported as above.

Any help gratefully appreciated

Ok, I've solved this issue.
The installation seems to requires email functionality. ON my local machine I have not set up any email sending ability thus the activation email couldn't be sent. I found this out by accident... when I was rooting around in the database.
NO WHERE IN THE QUICK INSTALL instructions does it say that email functionality MUST be enabled. This is a pretty major falw in the install process instruction IMO.
Love the application BTW, I've never had to set it up before!
is it possible to disbale the "Activation process" ?

A similar problem occured for me too. I reinstalled the mantis again, it happened again it allows only one adminuser. after creating other users it did not send any password or the mail support to the given mail id. plz do support me as soon as possible.it is urgent. thanks

I am having the same issue. email is not working, and I don't know how to get it working. The system will tell me it has sent an email to my account, but an email never arrives. I need to know how to set the email functionality up correctly.
