customasation of mantis
hello, im new to the software, and i was wondering if it is possible to make alterations to the code / build of mantis to suit indivdual circumstances in order to make a profit. thankyou in advance
Hi Joe,
Mantis itself is covered by the GPL so it's best to refer to the various FAQs for the licence to determine whether or not what you want to do is legal. I'd start at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html.
Having said that, there are various libraries that Mantis use that may have different licencing restrictions. Off the top of my head there is ADODB, PHPMailer, JPGraph and a couple of Javascript files. Amongst these there are LGPL, GPL, BSD, Apache and Creative Commons Attribution. That's not a definitive list of different components or licences.
Best thing you can do is find and read all of the various licences and apply them to your situation.
Finally, if you're not sure where these licences leave you, I would suggest seeking legal advice as I am definitely not a lawyer and am definitely not in any position to offer any legal advice to you (and I don't know anyone here that is).
I know this doesn't really help you, but it gives you somewhere to start...
