Problems with german umlauts

Hello,

I want to upgrade our mantis from version 1.0.1 to version 1.1.1. After the update the german umlauts are not shown correctly. Can anybody tell me, what I have to do after the update?

I modified the database-api and removed the line "db_query( 'SET NAMES UTF8' );" and then it works fine. But I think it is not the best way

PROBLEM SOLVED !

The database was not converted to UTF-8.

Can you include the steps you have followed to update the database to UTF8. I am sure it will be useful to others.
