How to set 'Category' list values?

Post by rypki »

Hi, I am getting problems with adding new bugs. On 'Report Issue' page there is a field 'Category' - but it is empty - the is only listed 'choose' option. Where can I set categories to appear in the 'Category' list?

Thanks for help in advance.

Where exactly in the project management page?

I just installed mantis yesterday, set myself as an administrator, created projects, and am trying to add issues.

Category is also blank for me, and I've been going through everything I can find on the pages, on the wiki, and searching through the forum to figure out how to add categories.

It's quite possible I'm just blind and/or stupid, but I can't find it.

Er, yeah. I kind of figured that much out.

I'm not seeing anything like add categories.

I'm using mantis 1.1.6.

I see [ Manage Users ] [ Manage Projects ] [ Manage Custom Fields ] [ Manage Global Profiles ] [ Manage Configuration ]
on one row.

Below that, I see Projects and a button to add a new project.

Below that, I see a list of the projects I added with
Name Status Enabled View Status Description as the column names, clicking on any of which merely sorts the projects.

Under that, I see the version of mantis, the copyright info, an image which links back to mantisbt.org, and the count of queries and unique queries executed.

I see absolutely nothing describing categories in any fashion.

However, I don't deny the possibility that I'm either really blind or incredibly stupid.

And what happens if you click on the project name that you want to edit? On the new page, don't you see a "Categories" section?

Odd. I posted a response to my previous post that stated I found I could add categories to each individual project. Must have gotten lost or maybe I didn't save it when I thought. No biggie.

Thanks for your help though. It hadn't been clear that you have to specify a project first. I'd assumed there was a way to add categories for use by all projects. It seems there isn't.

A little bit of irony, the time one most needs help is in the first few days/weeks of joining this forum. But those first few days/weeks are when one's posts take anywhere from a few hours to several days to be moderated in. Not complaining. I understand there are reasons for it. Just ironic.
