acces denied as administrator

Mantis 1.0.0rc3

I have created a user as 'viewer' (in general) and made him 'administrator' for one specific project.
He can log into the application just fine, but when he clicks om manage, he gets an Acces Denied message. I expect that normally he could manage the users and project for which he is administrator.

I saw that there is an issue in the Mantis Issue system for this (http://bugs.mantisbt.org/view.php?id=6402). Has anyone experienced this problem also and does anyone have a workaround? (wishful thinking :) )
