Summary0003167: One-digit redirect delay can be too short
Description

If a delay is used (allowed) at all, the intention must be give the user time to read what's on the page (often a success message or an error message - and for the latter one needs more time).

The problem is that different browsers treat the delay in a meta redirect differently: MSIE starts the delay counter after the the page has fully loaded (images an an all); but Mozilla and relatives start countng from when the page starts loading.

This implies that when the user is using a browser that behaves like Mozilla, the delay should be sufficient for both page loading and reading; a maximum of 9 seconds can easily be too short, especially is the user is also on a slow connection. The database field (and corresponding form field) should be expanded to allow 2 digits.

Additional Information

BTW, I didn't see a category "usability" - that's where I would have classified this.

I'm going through some of the older issues. It appears that this issue is resolved in the current version--the delay can be set to a much larger value. Please let me know if you disagree.
