Hmm, in english You have Summary and Reports.
When You 'translate' Summary with Berichte how do You translate Reports?

"Konto -> Profil":
doesn't change the length (as You intended) and the clearness is IMO the same

"Dokumentation -> Downloads":
No. In english You have Docs so the correct translation is Dokumentation. Downloads is far to abstract. How about Doku as abbreviation (equal to Docu/Documentation)?

Ok, your are right, you have "Summary and Reports" but sometimes it makes no sense to translate it exactly. Now in German it is "Zusammenfassung" which is "Summary" in English, so in my opinion "Berichte" is more clearly for the user than "Zusammenfassung". But let's wait for other opinions.

I'm a developer, but I've talked to some of our testers and reporters and they told me, that for them "Konto" = "bank account", so for me "Profil" is much clearer. But ok - that's one of the menu items you doesn't click so often.

"Dokumentation -> Downloads":
Ok, but you are can upload everything you want, not only documentation. So, it's maybe a general question to change the menustring to "Downloads" in English too.

Konto/Profil: shure the (english) profile is common in the IT (eg netscape profile). You have a mee too ;-)

Downloads: really general question. Is Docu only indeted for documentation (up)downloads? IMO Yes.

But when we discuss general questions: I found Summary also isn't quite right. It's more a statistical than a summary page ...

In our company we develop small programs and some kind of plugins. So our binaries are smaller than 1 MB, so we use the bugtracker also to store the newest versions of our products.

The developer uploaded the newest version of the plugin (or whatever) and all the testers have the newest version for testing.

So, for me it makes sense to rename this menustring to "Downloads", we also upload the documentation of the product, but the binary itself also.

But this is one of the point, where I can say - OK, I can change it on my local installation.

So is there a consensus here?

We might want to consider renaming Docs to Downloads then too, but that will increase the size of the menu.

Innerhalb des Kontos (= Zugangsberechtigung zu Mantis) gibt es ein Profil, das u.a. die Rechnerausstattung und die Softwareumgebung beschreibt.
Wenn wir Konto zu Profil änderten, gäbe es im Profil einen weiteren Unterpunkt Profil, und das ist unlogisch.
Die bisherigen Übersetzer (und dazu gehöre auch ich) haben sich schon etwas dabei gedacht. (Was aber nicht heißen soll, dass alles schon optimal übersetzt ist, zumal durch die Weiterentwicklung von Mantis ja ständig neue Zeichenketten dazukommen.)

Although I think I got that, please use English on this issue tracker, even in an issue like this :-)

IMO it looks like this:

• Konto -> Profil: not good, because Profil is already in use
• Do[k|c]umentation -> Downloads: general issue (not only german). Prolbem: string-length
• Zusammenfassung -> Berichte: status unknown ;-) (mixed Summary with Reports)

I would like to say that nothing should be renamed because:

"Zusammenfassung" exactly represents the english word "summary".
"Konto" ist also used in german like "Benutzerkonto" (user account), so it's clear to understand for my oppinion.
"Dokumentation" vs. "Downloads" depends on the mantis installation or use, so it doesn't matter which word to use, because it won't fit for everybody I think.

Closing this issue because it's much of philosophy.
