I would like to select the relationship type of "parent of" and run the filter and it show me all issues that are set as "parent of"

As mentioned by tandler in 0006031:0013022 , you can do this out of the box with the Relationships filters.

Resolving this issue as "no change required", please upgrade to the latest stable version [1]; if the problem persists after doing so, do not hesitate to reopen the issue.
