Summary | 0007150: Automatic reassignment on status transition
Description | New feature request: I would like to have the system automatically change the issue assignment when the status is changed. For example, when a developer changes the status from "confirmed" to "resolved", the issue would automatically be reassigned to the project testing lead. In terms of configuration, I'm picturing a way to set a user account for each status value (per project, preferably). Of course, instead of a user account, you should be able to set "no reassignment" meaning that the issue assignment doesn't change on status change. For backwards compatability, this would be the default setting.

Hear, hear. One useful option would be to assign a resolved bug bug to the reporter. |

Actually, assigning a resolved bug back to the reporter isn't always the way to go: The reporter can be different from the tester. Actually, an "Assign To" box when changing status to "resolved" would be very useful to have as it avoids one additional assignment step for each bug. At least, for the kind of workflow we use ("resolved" => change status & assign to tester). |

Ha! I'd forgotten all about this request (I was reminded by the email sent when sk_sofistik added their note). sk_sofistik, let me let you in on a secret, if it has been a year since the feature request was submitted, and it is still in "new" status, then that means that it ain't gonna happen (or at least, the developers volunteering their time aren't interested). Too bad. I really thought it was a good idea. |

Yeah, now that I looked harder at the date of the entry I understand your notion. Sorry for necro'ing. |
